SCULPTING

GUNDEGA  EMBRACES THE CHALLENGES OF WORKING WITH COMPLEX MATERIALS AND INTRICATE STRUCTURES. FROM WELDING AND FLEXING THE METAL FRAMEWORK TO REFINING EVERY DETAIL BY HAND, SHE IMMERSES HERSELF FULLY IN THE PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL DEMANDS OF THE CREATIVE PROCESS.

Her work is not just about sculpting beauty – it is about understanding the weight of creation, feeling its intensity, and transforming raw elements into something timeless and profound.

SISTER SUN AND SISTER MOON

MOON2017 / DIMENSIONS: 190 CM (HEIGHT) × 80 CM (DEPTH) × 90 CM (WIDTH)

Each sculpture was originally sculpted in clay and later cast in a1,an innovative material as strong as stone, capable of withstanding extreme outdoor conditions, including sub-zero temperatures. The surface is painted with bronze pigments and adorned with metal leaf, adding depth and a luminous quality that enhances the sculpture’s dynamic interplay with light.

The Sisters sculptural series embodies the beauty of living in the present moment, capturing the transient nature of life. these sculptures explore cyclical rhythms found in nature, reflecting the delicate balance between dual forces – day and night, light and shadow, the sun and the moon.

A symbol of the fleeting nature of time – an ephemeral moment frozen in form. just as day turns to night and the moon yields to the sun, life is a continuous flow of arrivals and departures, a dance between permanence and change.

Through graceful form and intricate detailing, these pieces evoke a sense of connection, strength, and silent dialogue between individuals.
